Absolute Beginners Sewing Class – Royton

Start sewing with confidence – one stitch at a time

If you’ve always wanted to learn to sew but don’t know where to start, this friendly beginner session is the perfect place to begin. Whether you have a machine you’ve never dared to switch on, or you’d like to try sewing before buying one, you’ll feel supported from the moment you arrive.

Join a relaxed 2‑hour group class in Royton, where we’ll get to know the sewing machine properly, practise the essentials together, and build the confidence you need to begin simple projects at home.

Bring your own machine or borrow one of mine. All materials, guidance, and encouragement are included.

What you’ll learn

I’ll guide you through all the key skills every beginner needs:

• Threading your machine

• Understanding tension

• Changing the needle

• Simple maintenance

• Stitch length and width

• What all the dials do

• Starting, stopping, and back‑tacking

• Winding the bobbin

• Top‑stitching

• Changing direction

• Helpful hints, tips, and troubleshooting

We’ll practise everything step‑by‑step, and you’ll leave feeling confident, capable, and ready to sew your first simple make.
