Young Makers Sewing Class

Sewing skills through fun, hands‑on making

This small group class is perfect for ages 9 to 14 who want to learn to sew in a relaxed, creative environment.

Unlike the adult beginner class, we get stuck into making much sooner. Young makers learn best by doing — so we pick up the technical bits as we go. It keeps things fun, builds confidence quickly, and feels nothing like school.

Join a 2‑hour sewing session at M24 Arts & Crafts, Middleton, where we’ll learn the basics, practise together, and complete a simple project they’ll be proud of.

Bring your own sewing machine or borrow one of mine. All materials, guidance, and encouragement are included.

What we cover

We learn the essentials through practical making, including:

• Threading the machine

• Understanding tension

• Stitch length and width

• What the dials do

• Starting, stopping, and back‑tacking

• Winding the bobbin

• Top‑stitching

• Changing direction

• Helpful hints, tips, and troubleshooting

By the end, they’ll feel confident using a sewing machine and ready to take on more creative projects.

• Saturday, 1pm – 3pm

• £30 per session

After booking, I’ll get in touch to check whether they need to borrow a machine or will bring their own.
